Peggy's Bio

Fascinated by baking and cake decorating from childhood, Peggy moved from her home in Germany to London in 1998 to study at the internationally renowned cookery school Le Cordon Bleu. After successfully completing ‘The Grand Diploma of Cuisine & Patisserie’, Peggy worked as a pastry chef at London's Lanesborough Hotel and celebrated caterer Rhubarb Food Design, followed by a position as cake decorator for German master-baker Gerhard Jenne, proprietor of Konditor & Cook.

Quickly developing her own style, Peggy set up her own business in 2003 and founded Peggy Porschen Cakes, a bespoke design company that not only reflected her life-long love of baking but also celebrates beautiful craftsmanship, inspired by romance, fashion and femininity. Peggy has since become one of the most prominent and pioneering names in contemporary cake design.

Author of three highly acclaimed titles, Peggy is widely known to have redefined the art of modern sugar craft. Her first book Pretty Party Cakes was voted ‘Best Entertaining Cook Book’ by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Peggy also regularly contributes to a number of influential titles including Condé Nast Brides, Wedding and Sainsbury’s Magazine, with many of her celebrity-commissions featuring in Tatler, OK! and HELLO magazine. UK television credits include Rachel Allen’s Bake, Good Food Live and Wedding Experts and in her native Germany, Peggy has appeared on Johannes B. Kerner, 3 nach 9 and Wissenshunger.

Autumn 2010 saw the opening of the Peggy Porschen Parlour in London's Belgravia. For the first time Peggy is able to offer her previously made-to-order only designs to all on an everyday basis. The Parlour offers a selection of Peggy's own blend teas, inspired by flavours found in her kitchen as well as a new and exclusive collection of Peggy Porschen Cake & Home wares. The Parlour is also home to Peggy's Bespoke Boutique, available to clients by appointment only.
